’You are the most...’: Kohli on Ab de Villiers' induction in ICC Hall of Fame

AB de Villiers, an iconic figure in South African cricket, has been inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. His former RCB teammate Virat Kohli lauded him as the most talented cricketer he has played with. The duo shared numerous match-winning partnerships for Royal Challengers Bangalore. De Villiers holds records for the fastest century and 150 in ODIs.

Be it smashing the bowlers while batting together for RCB or having a candid moment while celebrating an RCB win, Ab de Villiers and Virat Kohli have always shared a close bond of brotherhood together since the arrival of ABD in Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011. The explosive duo of Ab de Villiers and Virat involved in many match-winning partnerships while playing for RCB and has huge respect for each other. 

On Wednesday, Abraham Benjamin De Villiers was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame and his RCB teammate wasted no time showering praise and admiration for the South African Legend player. 

“You are thoroughly deserving of your place, after all, the Hall of Fame is a representation of your impact on the game, and yours has been truly unique,” Virat Kohli said.

“People have always spoken about your ability, and rightly so. You are the most talented cricketer I have played with, the absolute number one,” he added.

Over the years, De Villiers has been a great servant to South African cricket and delivered every time his team needed him the most. 

Apart for De Villiers, England Veteran Test player Alastair Cook and India Lady Cricketer Neetu David were also inducted in the list.
 
De Villiers holds the record for scoring the fastest century in ODIs. He needed only 31 balls to cross the triple-figure mark against the West Indies during a match played in Johannesburg in January 2015. During the 2015 ODI World Cup match against the West Indies in Sydney on February 27, 2015, he also broke the record of scoring the fastest 150 in the 50-over format of the game. 

AB de Villiers finished his career scoring 8765 test runs, 9572 runs in the ODI format and 1672 runs in T20 Internationals. He retired from International cricket in 2021.
