Mumbai Indians (MI) may have won the match last night against Rajasthan Royals in a thrilling encounter, but it was RR’s 21-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal who won the hearts with his terrific performance. The star batter's 124 off just 62 balls won him the player of the match.

The talented all-rounder ended up scoring more than half of the runs that the whole RR team made with 16 fours and eight sixes. With his terrific performance, Jaiswal now has 428 runs in nine innings this season.

One of the most promising talents across all formats in Indian cricket, Jaiswal's journey to success wasn’t easy.

According to reports, Jaiswal had come to Mumbai from Uttar Pradesh to receive cricket coaching after his talent was first spotted by Santacruz-based coach Jwala Singh. The coach took him under his wing and provided him with a place to stay.

Jaiswal was staying in a tent with the groundsmen of the Azad Maiden in Dadar, Mumbai after he was evicted from a shop he was working. Later, he reportedly started selling pani puri to make ends meet.

During an interview, Jaiswal said, “The journey I’ve had will stay with me for life.”

Speaking about his records, Jaiswal already has 9 centuries to his name in first-class cricket and two half centuries. He is also one of the youngest players to score a double century in 50-over cricket.

Social media users are gushing over Jaiswal’s talent and took to Twitter to heap praise on the young talent.

A user wrote, “Mumbai ko Pani Puri Khilaata tha. Aaj Mumbai ko paani pila diya. What a boy, what a story.”

“My current favourite Indian batsman is Yashasvi Jaiswal. What a clear mindset he carries along the game, I want him in the current Indian cricket team as a destructive opening batsman, firing all around the park,” commented another user.
