In a big blow to the fans of Indian cricket, Team India skipper Rohit Sharma has been injured ahead of the marquee World Test Championship Final (WTC) against Australia to be played at the Oval starting from June 7.

As per reports, Rohit was hit on his left thumb during today’s practice session. The right-handed batsman was taken on the sideline as a precautionary measure and was attended by the team physio.

Team physio Kamalesh applied a tape on Rohit’s injured finger immediately and he was taken off the field. Though the magnitude of the injury is relatively unknown, it may affect Rohit’s participation in the all-important WTC Final starting from tomorrow.

India are already missing many key players like Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer due to injuries. They cannot afford to miss another key player in their ranks in form of skipper and opener Rohit Sharma.

Notably, India are yet to announce their final playing XI. It is expected that the team management will announce the squad at the last moment after assessing the weather and conditions properly.
