Veteran Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsman Ajinkya Rahane is currently in great form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). The right-handed stylish batsman has so far scored 209 runs from five games including two fifties in the cash-rich league so far. Moreover, he has a stunning strike rate of 199.04.

Based on his exploits in the IPL and domestic cricket, the 34-year-old cricketer has been picked up by the BCCI selectors in India squad for the upcoming World Test Championships (WTC) final against formidable Australia. The high-octane clash will be played at The Oval in London from June 7 to 11.

Rahane’s selection in India Test squad has raised many eyebrows. As per several critics, someone like Sarfaraz Khan or Suryakumar Yadav would have been a better choice instead of Rahane.

As per reports published in some sections of the media, the return of Rahane to the Indian Test squad might have to do with former India and current CSK skipper MS Dhoni. The reports state that Dhoni’s inputs were taken by the Indian team management and selection committee before recalling Rahane to the team for the all-important WTC Final.

Coming back into domestic cricket, Rahane slammed 634 runs in just seven Ranji Trophy games at an impressive average of 57.
