Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) scripted a convincing 23 runs victory over UP Warriorz in a match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday.
In reply to RCB’s 198, Warriorz were restricted to 175 for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Engaging fifties by skipper Smriti Mandhana and star all-rounder Ellyse Perry formed the foundation of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s emphatic victory.
Mandhana (80, 50b, 10x4, 3x6) and Perry (58, 37b, 4x4, 4x6) added 95 runs off just 64 balls for the second wicket as Royal Challengers made a formidable 198 for three.
Perry and Richa Ghosh added 42 runs off 18 balls for the third wicket as RCB motored on to a strong total. Perry smashed left-arm spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad for two successive sixes. One of her sixes even went on to break the display car’s window.
The video clip of Perry’s reaction on the six which broke the car widow has gone viral over various social media platforms. Several fans have also flooded the comments box with amazing comments on social media platform X (earlier known as Twitter).
In reaction to the video, a fan wrote, “Perry tells you to install better mirrors in the car.” “Owner must offer that vehicle as a credit...,” tweeted another fan.
In his response to the video, a third user commented in jest, “Aaj to iski mummy se iski pitai hogi.”
Coming back to the game, the Warriorz’s chase did not have much to write home about except a fifty (55, 38b, 7x4, 3x6) by captain Alyssa Healy as it ended at 175/8.
