The Aussies on Sunday lifted the World Cup Trophy for the sixth time after defeating Team India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Rohit Sharma Army failed to end the ICC Trophy drought despite 10 consecutive wins in the league and knock-out games.

Well, do you know how much money Australia won after the World Cup victory? The Australian team has received crores of prize money. While the total prize money for the ODI cricket World Cup was 10 million dollars, the Aussies led by Pat Cummins collected a total prize money of 4 million US dollars (approx Rs 33 crores). 

On the other hand, India as the runners-up has collected prize money of USD 2 million (approx 16 crores). Furthermore, the semi-finalists New Zealand and South Africa received USD 800,000 (Rs 6.5 crore approx) each.

On the other hand, the teams winning the group stage matches also reportedly received payment of 40 thousand dollars each. This indicates that Team India which participated in nine group-stage matches and won all. As a result, Team India has received an additional $40,000 (approx Rs 33 Lakh) for each match they won.

Even as Australia lifted the ICC Men’s World Cup Trophy, India’s run machine Virat Kohli brought home the prestigious ‘Player of the Tournament’ Trophy. The King of cricket batted 11 times and averaged 95.63 to score 765 runs. He has scored 3 centuries, 6 half-centuries and 9 half-centuries.
