Sourav Ganguly, rightfully called the Prince of Kolkata, was one of the best captains India has ever produced. He has a great contribution in taking India’s cricket to greater levels along with Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar.

The veteran cricket players share a good rapport with each other both on and off the field and shared a friendly atmosphere in the dressing room. However, a prank by Sachin and Harbhajan Singh almost made Sourav quit his leadership spot.

It was during a low phase in Sourav’s career as he was not able to score when Sachin and Harbhajan decided to play an April Fool’s prank on him. They came up with a fake newspaper printing that said that Sourav was unhappy and had scolded everyone on the team. Later, when he stepped into the dressing room, everyone began looking at him and asked him about the news.

“I was a little disappointed because I wasn’t scoring runs. As I entered the dressing room, the team members got together led by Sachin and Harbhajan and were saying that they are very disappointed with what I said about the team in the media. I said, what did I say – I was very sensitive at the time. They said that there were reports in the newspapers that you were not happy with the way the team has played,” he had revealed during an interview with Times Now.

Without knowing that it was a prank, Sourav almost decided to resign and hand over the captaincy to someone else.

“I am ready to resign today, and I am ready for somebody else to take the captaincy,” he said.

Soon, everybody broke out into splits and made him understand that it was merely an April Fool's prank.
