The hype for IPL 2024 has been high right from the auction. Adding to the excitement of sports lovers, teams have already started making some big announcements. While fans are rooting for their favourite teams, it will be worth watching who lifts the IPL trophy this season.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli is likely to take back the captaincy role. If reports are to be believed, Kohli who had stepped down as skipper might once again don the captain’s hat to get his Bengaluru side their maiden IPL title this season.

Sources close to RCB indicated that the management has been considering the 35-year-old star cricketer to take back the captaincy. Faf Du Plessis is the current RCB captain who took the reign from Virat Kohli after India’s run machine decided to relieve himself from the role after IPL 2022 as he wanted to focus only on his batting displays.

During IPL 2023, Virat Kohli was the fourth-highest run-scorer and scored 639 runs from 14 innings at an average of 53.25 with 139 strike rate. He also scored two back-to-back centuries in must-win games for RCB against SRH (Sunrises Hyderabad) and GT (Gujarat Titans).

As RCB has never won an IPL trophy, fans are hopeful that things will change for the Bengaluru team if Virat Kohli takes over as the captain. It is yet to be seen how Kohli will react to the offer and whether he decides to play just as a player or lead the team.
