India’s budding batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has scripted history by becoming the youngest ever IPL signing player. The 13-year-old talented batsman from Bihar has been picked up by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for INR 1.1 crore in the mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

After a huge bidding with Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals ended up securing him in the auction. The young sensation will now be representing Rajasthan Royals, coached by former India coach Rahul Dravid.

He has become the youngest to be signed in the history of the cash-rich cricket league by breaking the record of Afghanistan’s Allah Ghazanfar, who was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). However, Vaibhav’s achievements have been surrounded by controversy after certain people alleged age fraud.

While his age is 13, many sections have claimed that he doesn’t look less than 15 and demanded a BCCI bone test. Amidst the controversy, Vaibhav’s father has sent a stern message and stood by his son.

Speaking to PTI, Vaibhav’s father Sanjiv Suryavanshi said, “When he was 8 and a half years old he first appeared for a BCCI bone test. He has already played India U-19. We don’t fear anyone. He can again undergo age test.”

This isn’t the first time the 13-year-old has grabbed headlines. Earlier, he had become the youngest batsman to register an international century by breaking the previous record held by Bangladesh’s current captain Najmul Hossain Shanto.

Amidst the controversy, cricket lovers have stood by budding cricketer and took to social media to hail the upcoming star.
