AB de Villiers, the South African cricket legend renowned for his extraordinary batting skills and versatility, left the cricketing world in shock when he announced his retirement in 2018.

Citing health issues related to a detached retina, De Villiers, affectionately known as 'Mr. 360' for his ability to play shots all around the ground, stepped away from the game, leaving behind a legacy of incredible performances and record-breaking achievements.

In a recent interview with journalist Melinda Farewell, de Villiers dropped a surprising hint about a potential return to cricket, sparking excitement among fans and cricket enthusiasts.

“I might still play cricket one day,” he said, indicating that while there is no official confirmation, he has started to entertain the idea.

“My kids are putting me under a bit of pressure, and I feel like I could go to the nets with them. If I enjoy it, maybe I'll walk out and play a little bit of casual cricket somewhere again—not professional IPL stuff or SA tours,” he added.

De Villiers also mentioned that he is willing to test his vision, stating, “I'm gonna try it again and see if this eye is still working. It's a bit blurry, but this (the right one) is the dominant one, and it's working fine.” His motivation seems to stem from his desire to enjoy the game again, particularly for the sake of his children.

Throughout his illustrious career, De Villiers amassed over 20,000 international runs across all formats, with an impressive tally of 47 centuries. He maintained an average of over 50 in both Test and ODI formats while playing for South Africa, cementing his place as one of the greats of the game. He also had a special bond playing for his IPL franchise team Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

As fans eagerly await more updates, the cricketing world remains hopeful for the possible return of AB de Villiers to the pitch.
