RCB players celebrating
In the fast-paced world of the Indian Premier League, where players often grab headlines for their on-field heroics, it’s easy to overlook the quiet battles fought behind the scenes. One such story is that of 21-year-old leg-spinner Suyash Sharma, who has made a remarkable return to the big stage, thanks to unwavering support from his new franchise, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
Suyash, who made his IPL debut in 2023 with Kolkata Knight Riders, spent two seasons with the franchise before being snapped up by RCB for ₹2.60 crore in last year’s mega auction held in Jeddah. But as IPL 2025 approached, the young spinner found himself grappling with a serious health setback.
“For nearly two years, I played through pain, sometimes only by taking injections,” he revealed in an emotional conversation on RCB Bold Diaries. “We didn’t even know what the problem was until it became unbearable.”
Suyash Sharma said, "RCB sent me to London for my surgery, they invested in me a lot". ❤️

Diagnosed with three hernias, Suyash was sent to London by RCB for surgery. There, under the care of RCB physio James Pipey and his family, Suyash found both medical treatment and emotional support.
I’m really thankful that I came to this franchise — I became completely fit. Otherwise, I have been dealing with this issue for the past two years. I had gotten used to playing in pain,” Suyash added.
Now fit and firing, Suyash is part of an RCB squad that’s enjoying a stellar IPL season, currently topping the points table with 14 points. Their next challenge is with Chennai Super Kings, who have struggled for momentum this year.
