There have been a lot of speculations regarding the place of India’s run machine Virat Kohli in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. While reports suggest that he might open with Hitman Rohit Sharma, a few sections of fans are not too happy with his performance in the ongoing IPL season.
The internet is divided over Kohli’s inclusion in the Indian national team due to his poor performance. However, despite RCB’s failed performances, Virat Kohli has been consistent and his strike rate in T20Is is better than other players.
Meanwhile, a fan shared how the T20 World Cup 2024 without Virat Kohli would be like giving an exam without a pen. He highlighted that there can be no questions over the prowess of the ‘King’ of cricket.
“It is sad to see that many people are questioning Virat Kohli’s World Cup selection. Virat is the pride of India. Playing the World Cup without Virat means giving the exam without a pen; Like you can’t take an exam without a pen, similarly, without Virat Kohli we cannot win the World Cup,” he shared.
Similarly, veteran players Sourav Ganguly and Irfan Pathan also picked Virat Kohli as their favourite for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
“Virat Kohli (There shouldn’t be any question regarding his place or strike rate. His strike rate at the T20I is 138 + better than Chris Gayle+ 51 avg. and his IPL strike rate this season is 150),” shared Irfan Pathan.
On the other hand, Ganguly has made a big statement and said that it is only Virat Kohli who can score a century in just 40 balls.
“Virat Kohli has the capability of scoring a 40-ball century. And in my personal opinion, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli should open for India in the T20 World Cup,” he said.
