T20 World Cup 2024: AB de Villiers urges Rahul Dravid to allow Virat Kohli bat at No.3

PUBLISHED: LAST UPDATE:

Virat Kohli's struggle in the T20 World Cup has prompted AB de Villiers to suggest a batting order change. De Villiers advocates for Kohli to bat at No.3, citing his strengths during middle overs. Despite his current poor form, scoring 1, 4, and 0 in group stages, India prepares to face Afghanistan next.

Virat Kohli

Team India star batsman Virat Kohli is currently going through a sluggish form in the ongoing T20 World Cup. The prolific batter has failed to register a single double-digit score at the grandest stage. He has utterly failed to impress in the opening position.

In response, legendary South African cricketer AB de Villiers has urged head coach Rahul Dravid and the team management to reinstate the  former India skipper at No.3.

I have always said please bat Virat at No. 3. Especially in better wickets that they will play now, Virat is the go-to guy at No. 3. He can play the attacking game and also pull back and absorb the pressure if necessary. He is the best player in the world in the middle overs. I don’t see any reasons for opening,” said De Villiers on his official YouTube channel.
