Team India will start their upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against USA on June 5. Most likely, three players who previously represented India in the U-19 level, will represent the USA team against the Men in Blue in that match.

In fact, the three Indian players did not just represent the Indian team, they won the World Cup in 2012 by beating formidable Australia in the final as well. The man of the match of that final and also the captain of that Indian team was Unmukt Chand. Unmukt is one of the three players who is likely to play against India at the marquee event.

The other two Indian cricketers to play for USA against India are Harmeet Singh and Smit Patel. Earlier, Patel has captained India A teams which included the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Suryakumar Yadav.

Notably, Unmukt shifted base to USA after retiring from all forms of cricket in India. He started playing in USA where he currently resides. In March, Unmukt will become eligible to play for USA.

The U19 World Cup winning captain from Delhi was once considered as the next Virat Kohli from Delhi. However, due to poor show in Indian Premier League (IPL), domestic cricket and injuries, he could never get a chance to play for India.
