Rishabh Pant
Playing audacious shots is nothing new in Rishabh Pant’s school of batting. The dashing left-handed batter's stroke play has often left fans in awe, but this time, his cheeky attempt resulted in a careless dismissal, drawing sharp criticism from cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar.
Pant, known for his fearless batting in Tests, attempted an extravagant shot that ended with him being caught at deep third man, a moment that fumed Gavaskar during live commentary.
"Stupid, stupid, stupid!" Gavaskar exclaimed. "You missed the previous shot, and look where you’ve been caught. That is throwing away your wicket. You cannot say that that’s your natural game. I’m sorry. That is not your natural game. That is a stupid shot. That is letting your team down badly. You have to understand the situation as well.”

Pant’s dismissal comes despite his recent remarkable comeback after a year-long absence due to a major car accident. The wicketkeeper-batter had impressed with a century against Bangladesh and was India’s leading run-scorer in the series against New Zealand.
Despite Pant and Ravindra Jadeja’s dismissals, India has recovered well. Nitish Kumar Reddy was on 105 (not out), with India 358/9, on Day 3 of the ongoing fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test match vs Australia, in Melbourne on Saturday.
