Cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, known for his flamboyant style on and off the field, has finally put an end to months of speculation by confirming his relationship with Sophie Shine, an Irish professional based in the UAE. The former India opener took to Instagram on 1st May, sharing a heartwarming post that has since taken social media by storm.

“My Love”: Sophie’s Heartfelt Caption

The couple went public for the first time as Sophie shared a cosy photograph of the duo with the caption “My love ❤️” — a simple yet telling declaration that caught the attention of fans and media alike. The post quickly went viral, with fans expressing joy at seeing Dhawan happy and content after a turbulent personal phase.

The couple had been spotted together earlier this year during a Champions Trophy match in Dubai, and again at a media conclave, where Dhawan cryptically hinted at being in love. “I won’t take names, but the most beautiful girl in the room is my girlfriend. Now you figure it out,” he had said with a smile.

Who Is Sophie Shine?

Sophie Shine is a product consultant and currently holds the position of Second Vice President at Northern Trust Corporation, a financial services company headquartered in the United States. A native of Ireland, she earned a degree in Marketing and Management from Limerick Institute of Technology and completed her schooling at Castleroy College.

The couple is believed to have met in the UAE, where Sophie currently resides and works.

A New Chapter After Divorce

This relationship marks a fresh chapter in Dhawan’s life following his divorce from Aesha Mukerjee in October 2023 after 11 years of marriage. The cricketer had married Aesha, who already had two daughters from a previous marriage, in 2011. However, the union eventually dissolved amid personal struggles.

Despite their split, Dhawan has been embroiled in a custody battle over his son Zoravar. While the court granted Dhawan visitation rights and video call access, the cricketer has since claimed that all forms of virtual contact have been blocked by his ex-wife, who now resides in Australia.
