In what could be a major setback for captain Babar Azam, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly mulling over a change in leadership after the team’s dismal campaign in the ongoing World Cup 2023.

The Green Army is facing severe backlash in the mega event and their latest shocker against Afghanistan has fumed several former cricketers and fans. Babar is also on the receiving end with many wanting him to step down from the leadership role.

Recently, many former cricketers including Basit Ali and Shoaib Malik voiced for Babar to leave the captaincy.

While Basit claimed that this should be done for Babar to focus on his batting, Malik claimed that he does not think out of the box but can do wonders as a player.

As per reports, PCB is mulling over a change in leadership with fast bowler Shaheen Afridi among the top contenders to replace the current skipper.

Meanwhile, many experts have claimed that an agenda is going on against World’s top batsman Babar and he will be replaced by Shaheen as the skipper of the team after the World Cup.

As per former Pakistan all-rounder Tanbir Ahmed, he is sure that Babar will be removed as the captain of the team.

“Pakistan has got such a great cricketer in Babar Azam after such a long time. However, an agenda is going on against Babar to pull him down. Everybody knows that Shaheen Afridi will be the next captain of Pakistan. It is being discussed everywhere. Though Sadab Khan is the vice-captain of the team, he will not be the next captain,” said Tanvir in a television show.
