A long wait for fans has finally come to an end as legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar has finally made his much-anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) debut on Sunday.

The 23-year-old left-arm fast bowler was picked for the first time in the Mumbai Indians (MI) playing XI for their crucial encounter against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Arjun replaced Arshad Khan in the playing XI. He was handed the MI cap by regular skipper Rohit Sharma. The left-arm pacer was bought by Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2022 auction at his base price of Rs 30 lakh. He was retained for the ongoing edition of the cash-rich league. Arjun was first bought by the franchise at the IPL 2021 auction at his base price of Rs 20 lakh.

Apart from left-arm fast bowling, Arjun is also quite effective as an attacking batsman lower down the order.

Arjun was ruled out of the second half of IPL 2021 season in the UAE due to an injury. He could not play a single game throughout the season. Arjun was also named in the initial Ranji Trophy squad of Mumbai in December last year. He spent time in England in 2019, playing for MCC Young Cricketers.

Playing for Goa in Ranji Trophy, Arjun has taken 12 wickets in seven games so far. He also demonstrated his skill as an all-rounder after scoring his first first-class century. His best performance came in the prestigious Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy where he took 10 wickets in seven matches.
