Rohit Sharma has addressed rumors about his retirement, confirming he will continue playing Test and ODI cricket 'at least for a while.' The 37-year-old is currently on a break after India's T20 World Cup win. He retired from T20Is but remains integral to the Indian team in longer formats.

In what comes as good news but a bit disappointment at the same time for Rohit Sharma fans, the Hitman has said that he will be seen playing Test and ODI cricket ‘at least for a while’. With this, Rohit has finally quashed all the rumours of his retirement from active cricket and expressed. There were several reports of the India captain retiring from ODI and Test cricket after his retirement from T20Is.

However, the stylish batsman has asserted that he will continue to play Test and ODI cricket ‘at least for a while’.

“I don’t look that far ahead. So clearly, you will be seeing me play at least for a while,” Rohit said during a promotional event in the US. After the triumphant win against South Africa in the recently concluded ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, the 37-year-old is on a break.

He is spending quality time with his family and will most likely miss India’s upcoming limited-overs tour to Sri Lanka later this month. His statements show that he will continue to form an integral part of Team India in the longer formats, both as opener and skipper.

Talking about his retirement from T20Is, the Hitman announced that he was retiring from the short format along with Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja. Rohit bid farewell to the T20Is as the highest run-scorer with 4231 runs from 159 matches, comprising 5 centuries and 32 half-centuries.
