Rohit Sharma has a clear mission- to stay fit and ready for the 2027 World Cup. Critics may argue that at 38 he’s no longer as athletic as his younger peers or that his runs have dried up. But Rohit just silenced all doubts with a stellar performance in the BCCI’s fitness test at the Centre of Excellence, proving he’s in peak physical shape.

The Indian captain, who last featured in competitive cricket during IPL 2025, is set to return in October for the three-match ODI series against Australia. Determined to make a strong comeback, Rohit put in long hours of intense training and worked closely with former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar. The results are striking—he’s noticeably slimmer, sharper, and moving with newfound energy.

His recent appearance at Mumbai airport after the fitness test left fans buzzing. Paparazzi were quick with their trademark one-liners, and while Rohit acknowledged them with a smile, he also threw in a few witty comebacks of his own. What stood out most, however, was his transformed physique—leaner and fitter than ever before.

India will face Australia in Perth on October 19, followed by matches in Adelaide and Sydney on the 23rd and 25th. Speculation has been rife that this could be the final ODI series for both Rohit and Virat Kohli, following their retirements from T20Is last year and Tests earlier this year. But with Rohit’s fitness peaking and Kohli grinding away in the nets at Lord’s, it seems the legendary duo might just have more cricket left in them than many believed.
