Preity Zinta gets furious after fan links her ‘marriage’ to Maxwell

PUBLISHED: LAST UPDATE:

Bollywood actress Preity Zinta condemned a sexist question linking Glenn Maxwell's poor IPL performance to her personal life during an AMA session. Her strong response highlighted gender bias in sports. Punjab Kings, co-owned by Zinta, are having a stellar season.

Glenn Maxwell and Priety Zinta

Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, and co-owner of IPL franchise Punjab Kings (PBKS), has strongly condemned a sexist remark made during an ‘Ask Me Anything’ session on social media. The actress, known for her grace and grit, did not mince words when addressing an offensive question that linked Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell’s poor performance to her personal life.

The incident occurred during a Q&A on X (formerly Twitter), when a fan questioned whether Maxwell had failed to deliver this IPL season because she didn’t marry him. The troll wrote, “Ma’am, did Maxwell not perform better for your team because you didn’t marry him?” a post that was swiftly deleted after Zinta’s pointed response went viral.

“Would You Ask a Male Owner This?” – Zinta’s Strong Response

Zinta’s reply was sharp and thought-provoking:

“Would you ask this question to the male team owners of other teams, or is this kind of discrimination reserved only for women? I never realised how difficult it is for women to survive in corporate setups until I entered the world of cricket,” furious Zinta wrote in reply.

She continued:

“I’m sure you asked this out of humour, but I hope you take a moment to actually read your question and reflect on what you’re implying—because if you truly understand it, it’s not pretty.”

Demand for Respect

“I believe I’ve earned my stripes by working very hard for the past 18 years, so please give me the respect I deserve and stop with the gender bias. Thank you,” she concluded.

Maxwell’s Form and Kings’ Rise

The controversy comes amid Maxwell’s underwhelming season, with just 48 runs from seven matches. His form slump extends from 2024, where he scored only 52 runs in 10 matches for RCB.

However, Zinta’s Punjab Kings have had a stellar season, currently placed third on the IPL table with 15 points from 11 matches. The team is poised for their first playoff qualification in 12 years and will next face Rajasthan Royals on May 18 under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, the former KKR champion.
