Paris Olympics: Odisha announces cash award of Rs 4 cr for Amit Rohidas, Rs 15L each for Indian hockey team players

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced a special cash award of Rs 4 crore for Odia defender Amit Rohidas. Majhi also announced Rs 15 lakh each for all the players of the Indian team and Rs 10 lakh each for all the support staff.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday announced cash awards for the bronze medal-winning Indian hockey team in the ongoing Paris Olympics. 

The Indian team clinched the bronze medal after finishing third in the Olympic Games by beating Spain 2-1 in the third-position match.

Majhi announced a special cash award of Rs 4 crore for Odia defender Amit Rohidas. Majhi also announced Rs 15 lakh each for all the players of the Indian team and Rs 10 lakh each for all the support staff.

“I have congratulated captain Harmanpreet Singh, coach Craig Fulton and all the players and support staff of the Indian hockey team for winning bronze medal after their stunning victory against Spain in the Paris Olympics. I also spoke with them. This bronze medal is a reflection of our dedication towards hockey for years. All the Odias are proud of this success,” said Majhi.

“Hockey players occupy a special place in our hearts. I have invited them to come to Odisha soon. Many many congratulations to Odia hockey star Amit Rohidas. The Indian team has inspired all the youths of India with their skills. This success will inspire all the sportspersons of Odisha,” he added.
