Hosts India will play the upcoming World Cup under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. However, former Pakistan cricket team captain Rashid Latif believes that had Kohli been the skipper going into the 2023 World Cup, India would have been much more ready.

With less than two months to go for the World Cup, India don’t look like a settled unit with injuries to top players and so many experiments going on with the team since last few months.

As per Rashid, handing the captaincy to many candidates in the last two years had not helped the Indian team.

“If Indian team management had allowed Virat Kohli to continue as captain, India would be 100 percent ready for the World Cup by this time,” said Latif.

“They have experimented with several players and if I talk about their batting the middle and lower order say from four to seven they just have not allowed any new player to settle down with frequent changes,” he added.

As per the former Pakistan skipper, India would now have to just depend on seniors in the World Cup.

“However, it is pretty risky as KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are just returning from injuries,” said Latif.
