Not Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma: Know the most searched Indian sportsperson on Google in 2022

Google Trends has come out with the list of the biggest search trends of the website across the world and in India throughout the year 2022. 

And, only one sportsperson has found the cut in the top 10 most searched people in 2022 in the country. 

The name surprisingly is not what one would expect like those of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma or MS Dhoni. 

The most searched sportsperson on Google in India in 2022 is surprisingly none other than veteran leg spinner Pravin Tambe. 

While the leggie was not part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) or any form of Indian cricket this year, he topped the charts mainly because of the biopic on his life titled ‘Kaun Pravin Tambe?’ 

Bollywood actor Shreyas Talpade essayed the role of Pravin Tambe in the movie.

Tambe has had a pretty inspiring cricketing journey. He did not play a single first-class cricket game at any level in his life, until 41 years old, when he was given a contract in the IPL by Rajasthan Royals in 2013. 

He became the oldest debutant in IPL history against Delhi Daredevils in that season. 

Tambe’s breakthrough moment came when he picked up a sensational hat-trick against Kolkata Knight Riders in Indian Premier League 2014. 

Tambe then went on to play at the first-class level for Mumbai. He also participated in many foreign leagues.
