MS Dhoni

At 44, MS Dhoni continues to defy age, impressing fans with his unmatched fitness and razor-sharp reflexes. The former India captain, who retired from international cricket in 2020, remains a vital force in the IPL, with his swift stumpings and finishing prowess proving age was just a number. But beyond the field, Dhoni is voicing concerns about a growing problem – declining fitness levels among India’s youth.

“Physical Activity Is Declining Among Children”

Speaking at an event in Ranchi, Dhoni shared his worries about the sedentary lifestyle increasingly common among children. “Nowadays, that age is coming down – the amount of physical activity is coming down. So, the average fitness level of Indians has gone down. Even my daughter, I feel she doesn’t do a lot of physical activity. She is not into sports, so we have to plan things where you are physically active. That’s how it has been. A lot of people don’t play sport,” he said candidly.

The Fitness Icon Who Walks the Talk

Dhoni, who began his international career in 2004 and led India to three ICC trophies, has long been admired for his disciplined fitness regime. Whether it was sprinting between wickets or executing lightning-fast stumpings, his physical conditioning set him apart and became a hallmark of his career.

Inspiring on the Field Even at 44

Even today, as the oldest player in the IPL, Dhoni continues to inspire. In a 2025 IPL clash against LSG, he smashed 26 runs off 11 balls, steering CSK to a thrilling win and earning the Player of the Match award – becoming the oldest player to receive the honour.

A Call for Change

Dhoni’s words serve as both a warning and a call to action. His own commitment to fitness highlights the importance of staying active, and he hopes more parents and children will prioritize physical activity in an increasingly digital age.
