Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni played with an injured knee throughout the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Though the Captain Cool managed to guide CSK to win their record equaling fifth IPL title alongside Mumbai Indians, he has reportedly aggravated his knee injury.

As per reports, the veteran wicketkeeper batsman is set to get admitted to the Kokilaben hospital in Mumbai this week for a number of tests pertaining to his knee injury.

Earlier, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming had also admitted that Dhoni was playing in IPL 2023 with a knee injury.

“Dhoni is nursing a knee injury, which you can see in some of his movement, that is hindering him somewhat,” Fleming said in a press conference last month.

To avoid running between the wicket, Dhoni was coming lower down the order to have some big hits. However, his injury didn’t have a detrimental impact on CSK’s campaign as they had depth in the batting order. Moreover, the impact player rule ensured that Dhoni’ didn’t have to bat up the order.

However, Dhoni’s knee injury didn’t have any effect on his wicket keeping. He was sharp behind the wicket. Moreover, it was his shrewd brain as a captain which helped CSK take some great decisions both on and off the ground which helped CSK emerge champions.

After winning the title for CSK, Dhoni has set an aim to play one more season of the IPL as a gift to the fans who have showered so much love on him. But to make it possible, Dhoni has to be injury free and take special care of his knees. He has six-to seven months in his hand to be completely injury free and make himself available for IPL 2024.
