In a rich tribute to everyone’s favourite Captain Cool and Thala of Indian cricket MS Dhoni, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to retire jersey No. 7. The young players and current Indian team players have been told not to pick MS Dhoni’s number 7 jersey.

The BCCI has decided to retire Dhoni’s t-shirt for his contribution to the game. The no. 7 has become synonymous with Thala, who is currently trending on social media for the unique number.

Social media is flooded with several memes and tribute posts for no. 7. While the great Sachin Tendulkar’s No. 10 t-shirt was already retired by the BCCI, it has also now decided to retire Dhoni’s No. 7 jersey.

This is a small tribute to honour the contributions of the wicket-keeper batsman, who remains India’s most successful captain when it comes to ICC events. The BCCI has strictly told all the players that they cannot wear no. 7 on their back while donning the Indian Jersey, a report in Star Sports said.

The BCCI official also confirmed that a total of 60 numbers have presently been allotted to the Indian team’s players.
