MS Dhoni
After months of silence surrounding his future with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), MS Dhoni has finally opened up—bringing clarity, nostalgia, and a promise that his connection with the franchise will endure well beyond his playing days.
Speaking at a private event, the 44-year-old icon playfully addressed the swirling rumors about his retirement, offering a heartfelt assurance to fans: “Me and CSK, we are together. You know, even for the next 15-20 years,” Dhoni said with a grin, quickly adding, “I hope they don’t think I’ll be playing for another 15-20 years!” His comments, delivered with trademark wit, hinted at a long-term role with the franchise—possibly off the field.
Speculation about Dhoni stepping away had intensified after IPL 2024, but the veteran made a strong return in IPL 2025. Despite battling a knee issue, he reclaimed captaincy duties mid-season after Ruturaj Gaikwad’s injury. However, CSK endured a rough campaign, managing just four wins in 14 matches and finishing at the bottom of the table—a rare low for the five-time champions.
Still, Dhoni remained philosophical. Reflecting on the team's recent struggles, he said, “Yes, the last couple of years have not been good for us. But what’s important is to reflect—what went wrong? That’s the question we asked ourselves last year too.”
As for whether fans will see him back in action next season, Dhoni stayed ambiguous, teasing, “I will always be sitting in a yellow jersey. Whether I’m playing or not… well, you know that yourself.”
For now, one thing is certain—whether on the field or behind the scenes, MS Dhoni isn’t walking away from CSK anytime soon.
