IPL 2025: MI owner Nita Ambani responds to fan's request to make Rohit Sharma captain - watch

Mumbai Indians (MI) have replaced veteran batsman Rohit Sharma with all-rounder Hardik Pandya as the captain of the team from the last season of cash-rich Indian League.

However, MI's performance has been severely affected under Pandya's leadership. Several fans are not happy over the development. They have openly expressed their resentments and demanded that Rohit should be reinstated as the captain of the team.

Fan's Request & Nita's Response

In a recent incident, during MI owner Nita Ambani's visit to the Shri Sai Baba temple in Shirdi, she got a common request from the franchise's fan. As per reports, the fan asked the MI owner to reappoint Rohit Sharma as captain of the side.

"Madam, Madam, Rohit ko captain karo, Rohit ko captain karo (Madam, Madam, make Rohit the captain, make Rohit the captain)," the fan requested.

In response, Nita said, " "Baba ki marzi [ Sai Baba's wish]."

In the ongoing IPL 2025, MI have so far lost four out of six games, three of them under Pandya's captaincy as he was banned from the five-time champions' campaign opener. They are currently languishing  in the seventh position on the IPL points table with four points in their kitty.

Rohit in Poor Form

Notably, former MI skipper Rohit Sharma is currently going through poor form in IPL 2025 and it has become a major concern for the team. After a stellar run in Champions Trophy 2025, he has so far managed to score 56 runs from five games at an average of 11.20.
