Although Argentina’s Lionel Messi won the MOTM, it was France’s Kylian Mbappe who has won the hearts of football lovers last night. With a hat-trick, the 23-year-old won the Golden Boot award and Silver Ball as the tournament’s best player.

He edged Messi and scored his sixth, seventh and eighth goals of the 2022 tournament to take his total to 12 in the competition overall. He has placed his name alongside some of the game’s all-time greats with his performance last night.

Mbappe displayed extraordinary grit as he pulled France back from what looked like a nailed-on defeat by scoring in two goals in two minutes in the 80th and 81st minutes.

Fans just cannot get enough of the 23-year-old who still has a lot of game in him. There is not a single doubt that the champ shall lift many such trophies in the time to come. Although Messi took away the World Champions trophy, Mbappe played his heart out and showed the world what true sportsmanship, grit and fighting spirit are.

The French star, despite a hat-trick, ended up on the losing side. However, he already has 12 World Cup goals in only 14 games at the age of 23. He’s only four behind all-time record holder Miroslav Klose. The year 2026 will certainly be a record-breaker for the French phenomenon.

Fans are heaping praises on the young talent for his noteworthy performance.

A fan wrote, “We did not deserve to lose. Mbape did not deserve to lose. That performance will be remembered forever,” while another wrote, “We are witnessing a big legend in the making.”

Similarly, another fan wrote, “He really tried. He was the best player on the pitch today. I know many people will talk about Messi. But, he played better than Messi tonight.”

A third fan wrote, “Mbappe is the future,” while another wrote, “There is no player his age who is even close to how good he is. He is unbelievable.”
