Sotheby’s, a well-known auction house is gearing up to unveil a prize collection of six jerseys of Messi, worn during Argentina’s triumphant FIFA journey in Qatar last year. 

With a record sum exceeding $10M, the auction will feature six of seven first half jerseys which Messi wore, which includes the iconic nail-biting finale Vs France.  

The Finale against France which saw Argentina emerge victorious in a penalty shootout after a riveting 3-3 draw. Leo Messi played a crucial role in the success of Argentina in Qatar. 

Established in 1744, London, Sotheby’s will conduct the auction in New York from November 30 to December 14. 

Michael Jordan's 1998 NBA Finals jersey, which sold for $10.1 million at Sotheby's in New York in September 2022, currently holds the record for a game-worn sports item.

When it comes to football memorabilia, Diego Maradona's shirt from Argentina's historic quarterfinal triumph over England in 1986 holds the record, having sold for $9.3 million at Sotheby's London in May 2022.

Messi's victory in Qatar cemented his status as a legend along with Pele and Maradona, increasing the potential worth of his historic shirts.
