Explosive England opener Jason Roy has put his international career in jeopardy. As per reports, the 32-year-old cricketer is all set to forgo his central England contract. 

After playing in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Roy is likely to sign up with the Los Angeles Knight Riders (Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) sister franchise) in the Major Cricket League (MLC) in the USA on a two year deal. The upcoming tournament will be played from July 13 to July 30.

Right-handed aggressive batsman Roy recently played for KKR in IPL 2023. He is currently a contracted player for England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on an incremental deal till October. He is all set to get Rs 3.067 crore as per his two year deal with the Los Angeles Knight Riders.

After moving away from ECB central contract and signing up the deal in MLC, Roy will be the first English cricketer to priorities his T20 league career over national responsibility.

As per reports, Roy has been in talks with ECB in the last week in this regard and the announcement might be due in few days’ time.

Moreover Roy’s Surrey and England teammate, Reece Topley is also planning to follow his footsteps.
