Insiders at Rajasthan Royals have confirmed that the franchise remains committed to retaining Samson, who continues to be a key part of their core plans moving forward.

Amidst growing speculation and swirling transfer rumors, it has now been confirmed that Sanju Samson will remain with the Rajasthan Royals ahead of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Contrary to reports linking the stylish wicketkeeper-batter with moves to either Chennai Super Kings (CSK) or Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), trusted sources have revealed that the 30-year-old will continue with the Jaipur-based franchise.

Since the end of the IPL 2025 season, Samson’s future had been a hot topic in cricket circles, particularly after a series of injuries cast a shadow over his campaign. The Royals’ skipper suffered a broken right index finger during the T20I series against England earlier in the year—an injury that required surgery and forced him to miss several matches. A later side strain further limited his playing time.

Despite these setbacks, Samson managed to feature in nine matches, scoring 285 runs at an impressive strike rate of 140.39. In his absence, all-rounder Riyan Parag stepped up as captain, highlighting the team’s growing bench strength and leadership depth.

The rumors of a possible move to CSK gained traction as the franchise is reportedly preparing for a leadership transition. With MS Dhoni likely to take a back seat, CSK was said to be exploring alternatives to Ruturaj Gaikwad, who had a mixed season in 2025. Samson, with his aggressive yet composed batting style and leadership credentials, was considered an ideal candidate to lead the yellow brigade.

However, the transfer talks did not come to fruition. Insiders at Rajasthan Royals have confirmed that the franchise remains committed to retaining Samson, who continues to be a key part of their core plans moving forward.

This is not the first time Samson has been linked with a high-profile switch, but the Kerala-born cricketer has consistently demonstrated loyalty to the Royals—the team that handed him the captaincy and stood by him through ups and downs.

As IPL 2026 draws closer, Rajasthan Royals will be counting on a fully fit Samson to spearhead their campaign, both as a batter and leader, as they chase their second IPL title.
