IPL 2025: Players who could replace injured Jasprit Bumrah in Mumbai Indians

Jasprit Bumrah, injured during the final Test of Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, may miss IPL 2025. Mumbai Indians eye Umesh Yadav, Shardul Thakur, and Vidhwath Kaverappa as replacements.

In an unfortunate incident, India have suffered a major set-back during the fifth and final Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Premier pacer and stand-in-captain Jasprit Bumrah has been injured and he left the field for scan.

Bumrah’s career has been plagued with frequent injuries. Apart from Team India management, Mumbai Indians will be hoping that he gets fit quickly and is available for the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

However, if Bumrah will be unable to play in IPL 2025, here are three pacers who can replace him in Mumbai Indians.

Umesh Yadav

The veteran pacer has so far played 148 matches in IPL and has picked up 144 wickets at an economy of 8.45 and an average of 29.83. He could be drafted in MI ranks with his wicket taking abilities in the powerplays.

Shardul Thakur

In IPL 2025 auction, none of the franchises showed interest in the pace bowling all-rounder and he went unsold. However, Shardul has done well in the domestic cricket since then. MI may show interest in him for his bowling abilities in all phases of T-20 game and utility batting lower down the order.

Vidhwath Kaverappa

Vidhwath Kaverappa has been putting up consistent performances in domestic T20s for the past couple of seasons. He has the capability to pick up wickets at any stage of the game and change the momentum in his team’s favour. MI may draft the youngster in the team in case Bumrah fails to recover in time.
