In yet another setback, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered amassive injry blow ahead of the opening match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Bangladesh speedster Mustafizur Rahman was stretched off the field due to injury during the third ODI against Sri Lanka as he complained off a pain in his leg in the 10th over of the SL innings. He was unable to walk off by himself.

CSK will lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the opening match of the mega tournament on March 22. However, CSK are already a depleted side with so many injuries. While the team was banking a lot on Mustafizur, injury to the key player at the crucial moment must hurt the team’s cause in the mega event.

Under the circumstance, CSK will be closely monitoring the situation surrounding the health of the Bangladesh cricketer.

CSK have already been grappling with injury issues to many key players ahead of the upcoming edition of the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL). Promising speedster Matheesha Pathirana has suffered a Grade 1 hamstring strain on his left leg.

Pathirana had a great role in CSK’s title campaign last year as he had captured 19 wickets from 12 matches with good economy rate.

Earlier, CSK’s aggressive opener Devon Conway has been ruled out for at least the first half of the league. The New Zealand opener sustained a thumb injury during the recent T20I series against Australia and has missed the subsequent two-match Test series. He was the leading run scorer for the defending champions with a total of 672 runs, averaging around 52.
