Team India’s utility all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has courted a controversy by taking part in a road show in Jamnagar ahead of the state Assembly elections to campaign for his wife and BJP candidate Rivaba Jadeja.

Ravindra Jadeja on Friday stood in an open jeep waving hands and acknowledging the crowd of Jamnagar, his home city, while hundreds of BJP supporters rallied along with him on bikes and cars.

However, it didn’t go down well as several several fans found it unprofessional. The fans blasted saying, instead of spending time at the NCA in Bangalore for rehab, Jadeja is busy in election campaigns boosting up his wife’s initiation into politics, which is not a good sign for Indian cricket.

But it didn’t end there. Political analyst and consultant Tehseen Poonawalla raised another issue on Twitter while tagging BCCI, with whom Ravindra Jadeja has a central contract.

“Dear @BCCI, is the picture of a BCCI contracted player wearing the BCCI OFFICIAL JERSY allowed for campaigning? Is @BCCI a political organization?,” Poonawalla tweeted, adding, “Kindly clarify or we will seek legal recourse!”

Earlier, Rivaba was also criticized for using one picture of her husband wearing the Indian cricket team jersey, on her campaign posters.

Rivaba joined the BJP in 2019 and recently got a ticket to contest in the upcoming Gujarat assembly elections, 2022, from the Jamnagar (North) constituency.
