Rinku Singh
Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is all set to embark on a new innings, this time in his personal life. The young left-handed batter, known for his explosive performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL), will get engaged to Samajwadi Party (SP) Member of Parliament Priya Saroj on Sunday, June 8. The ring ceremony will be a private affair hosted at a hotel in Lucknow, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the couple.
According to reports, the alliance between the two families was cemented earlier this year after thoughtful discussions. Tufani Saroj, SP MLA from Kerakat and Priya’s father, revealed that the families had met in Aligarh and came to a mutual understanding regarding the engagement.
“Rinku and Priya have known each other for over a year. Their friendship turned into love, but they waited for their families’ blessings before taking the next step,” Tufani Saroj shared. He added that the two were introduced by a mutual friend, whose father is also connected to the cricketing world.
Hailing from Karkhiyaon village in Varanasi, Priya Saroj is no stranger to the public eye. The 2024 Lok Sabha elections saw her elected as the MP from Machhlishahr constituency in Jaunpur district. Prior to her political career, she made her mark as a Supreme Court lawyer and gained prominence during her father's 2022 assembly campaign. She holds a degree in arts from Delhi University and a law degree from Amity University in Noida.
Rinku Singh rose to fame during the 2023 IPL season when he smashed five consecutive sixes off Yash Dayal in a dramatic finish against Gujarat Titans. Since then, he has donned the India jersey in two ODIs and 33 T20Is, scoring 601 runs, including three half-centuries with a top score of 69.
Though his team, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), had a forgettable run in IPL 2025 — finishing eighth on the points table with just five wins out of 14 matches — Rinku managed to maintain a strong individual performance. He scored 206 runs across 13 games at an average of 29.42 and an impressive strike rate of 153.73.
With both cricket and politics uniting through this engagement, fans and well-wishers eagerly await the ceremony that will bring together two rising stars from different arenas. June 8 promises not just a celebration of love, but a symbolic union of ambition, talent, and shared dreams.
