Team India captain Rohit Sharma has been reportedly injured ahead of their group-stage match against New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
As per reports published in some section of media, vice-captain Shubman Gill is likely to lead the team against the Kiwis.
As per sources, skipper Rohit is reportedly nursing a hamstring injury that he sustained during India’s high-octane clash against Pakistan on February 23. While the injury is not considered severe, team management is contemplating resting Rohit for the inconsequential fixture to ensure his availability for the all-important semifinals.

Though the veteran cricketer briefly left the field, he returned after a few overs, leading India to a comprehensive victory. However, recent reports indicate that Rohit has not participated in batting drills during India’s training sessions in Dubai, fueling speculation about his fitness.
Notably, both India and New Zealand have entered the last four spots of the mega event. Under the circumstance, Sunday’s encounter will determine the Group A topper. Although the result won’t impact India's qualification, finishing first in the group could offer a more favorable semifinal opponent.
Team India is currently in great form especially in the shorter format of the game. The Men in Blue have registered comprehensive victories in their first two group stage matches.
