Ind vs Eng Test series: Former India star picks India squad ahead of selection

Jaffer has left out Sai Sudharsan, who has been in excellent form during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The former India Test opener preferred India A captain Abhimanyu Easwaran in the squad instead of Sudharsan.

India is set to play a five-match Test series against England, starting with the first match at Leeds on June 20.

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar and head coach Gautam Gambhir will announce the Indian squad and reveal the new Test captain on May 24.

However, prior to the development, former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has picked his 16-member squad for the upcoming series which is going to be a tough one for the Indian team.

KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Karun Nair/Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Dhruv Jurel, Sarfaraz Khan, Arshdeep Singh/Prasidh Krishna/Akash Deep, Washington Sundar.

Moreover, instead of choosing Shubman Gill, Jaffer has picked premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah as the Test captain of the Indian team.

Ri shabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel are picked as wicketkeepers in the squad. Wasim Jaffer included four players Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur, Karun Nair, and Mohammed Shami, who missed previous red-ball tours.
