Ind vs Eng Test Series: Rishabh Pant’s poor form a matter of concern for India

Rishabh Pant, the dynamic Indian cricketer, has faced a challenging journey since his anticipated return to the sport in March 2024. In Test cricket, his more preferred format, Pant initially made waves with significant contributions, including a century against Bangladesh followed by three half-centuries. Yet, his stint in Australia proved lacklustre, amassing only one fifty and 255 runs at a modest average of 28.33.

Battles Continued in IPL 2025

Despite his active presence in 10 Tests during the 2024-25 season, his form remained inconsistent. With KL Rahul rising as India's favoured wicketkeeper in One Day Internationals (ODIs), Pant's difficulties solidifying a permanent spot were evident. His performance with the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025 was similarly disappointing, marred by an uncommon fifty against Chennai Super Kings.

Question on Confidence & Future Prospects

Pant's decision to allow teammate Ayush Badoni to bat ahead of him suggests a crisis of confidence. Nevertheless, his inherent talent remains unquestionable, with supporters and selectors alike optimistic for his resurgence.
