Ind Vs Eng 4th Test ends in draw
Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, and Shubman Gill rose to the occasion on Day 5 as India secured a memorable draw in the fifth and final Test against England at Old Trafford on Sunday. Chasing down a massive first-innings deficit of 311 runs, India showcased grit and resilience to close the match at 425/4, denying England a potential series win.
India’s batting heroes included Shubman Gill (103), who notched his fourth century of the series, making him the first Asian batter to score over 700 runs in a single Test series in England. His composed 188-run partnership with KL Rahul (90) laid the foundation for India’s comeback.
After Gill fell to Jofra Archer just before lunch, Jadeja (107)* and Washington (101)* carried the baton, grinding out runs with elegance and patience to ensure India walked away with a morale-boosting draw.
Despite India’s resistance, England lead the five-match series 2-1, having dominated the earlier Tests. Their first-innings total of 669, powered by Joe Root (150) and Ben Stokes (141), looked insurmountable at one point. But India’s second innings effort will be remembered as one of their most spirited fightbacks on English soil.
England 1st innings: 669 all out (Root 150, Stokes 141, Jadeja 4/143)
India 1st innings: 358
India 2nd innings: 425/4 in 143 overs (Gill 103, Rahul 90, Jadeja 107*, Washington 101*)
India may have fallen short in the series, but in Manchester, they found their rhythm again.
