Team India opener KL Rahul’s poor form continued as he just managed to score only one run in India’s second innings against Australia in the second Test in New Delhi. He had scored only 17 runs during the first innings.

Due to his string of poor performances, Rahul is under tremendous pressure and there are growing concerns about his future in the team.

However, India captain Rohit Sharma suggested that the team might stick with him or any other player who has potential and give them more opportunities to improve.

“Of late, there has been a lot of talk about Rahul’s batting. But again, for us as team management, we always look at any individual’s potential, not just Rahul, in the past. If the guy has potential, he will get an extended run, not just about Rahul, it’s any other player as well. If you look at a couple of hundreds he has got in overseas, one of the best knocks was at Lord’s, batting on that damp pitch after losing the toss and put into bat.

Struggling Rahul has not been in good form since January 2022. He has only managed to score one fifty-plus score since then. His last Test hundred came against South Africa in December 2021.

Notably, Rahul has recently drawn a lot of flak from the fans for his continuous poor shows. Former India medium fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad also recently slammed the selection of the out-of-form batsman KL Rahul in the playing XI for the ongoing second Test against Australia in New Delhi. In a series of tweets, Prasad claimed that there is favoritism in Rahul’s selection.
