However, the star spinner has been traveling with the team to India. Though he participated in a training session, Zadran confirmed that the tweaker is still on the path to recovery and will miss the series.

Rashid underwent a lower-back surgery two months ago. Meanwhile, the skipper of the team expressed hope for Rashid’s swift return. He also acknowledged the void his absence creates in the team.

In absence of Rashid, Afghanistan’s spin department will be led by Noor Ahmad and Mujeeb-ur-Rahman. Moreover, experienced Mohammed Nabi will add depth to the attack.

“Others have played a lot of cricket, and I am sure that they will perform well. Without Rashid, we will struggle because his experience is crucial to all of us, but this is cricket, and you need to be ready for any kind of situation,” said captain Zadran.
