Since making his debut for Team India, Suryakumar Yadav has become one of the finest players in the shortest format.

Once regarded as brash and unruly, it has been a complete turnaround for the Mumbai-born cricketer.

India’s Mr 360 degree batsman Suryakumar Yadav’s wife Devisha Shetty has revealed the secret behind his transformation as an explosive batsman. The 32-year-old rose to prominence with KKR before a switch to Mumbai Indians in 2018 which changed his life and career forever.

Winning the confidence of skipper Rohit Sharma and the team management, Surya had a consistent run at the top of the order enjoying the best season of his career.

“You tend to enjoy life more in your early 20s. But then things changed a bit. He started taking everything a little more seriously. 2018 was a great year batting-wise for Mumbai Indians,” says Devisha on Surya’s elevation as a top batter.

“The commitment meant not just signing up for deepening his resolve to play for India, but leaving behind an entire way of indulgent and hedonistic life. He has no vices now, he may have had when he was younger, but he is much more in control of himself now,” added Devisha in a candid fashion.

As per Devisha, Surya was not strict with his fitness before but then he took diet and workout more seriously.

“Surya would work out earlier but he would not be that strict with what he was eating. There would be phases, he would crash-diet for two-three months. He would get into shape and then he would stop the diet. But now, for him, it has become a lifestyle. It is no longer just a diet that he has to follow,” she revealed.

Heading into the mega event, ‘SKY’ is being widely acknowledged as perhaps the best T20 batter in the world currently. Expectations are sky high that he will light up the tournament with his fireworks and 360 degree approach.

The 32-year-old has scored a total of 864 runs at a stunning strike rate of 180 since the last edition of the T20 World Cup.
