The General Secretary of Hockey Odisha, Pratap Satapathy has raised serious concerns over the charges of alleged diversion of money by Narinder Batra, president of Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

The CBI has initiated an inquiry against Batra for an alleged corruption to the tune of Rs 35 lakh belonging to the Hockey India.

In his reaction to OTV, Satapathy said, “The Odisha Government has been the sponsor of the Indian National Hockey since 2018 and funding it generously. But there should be an accountability for that money.”

“The money reportedly swindled by Batra is the hard-earned money of tax payers from Odisha. It should be spent on the development of the sport only,” Satapathy added.

The allegations of corruption against Batra are the latest in a series of issues surrounding the IOA.

On March 29, Honorary Treasurer of IOA Anandeshwar Pandey had written a letter to Batra alleging irregularities and seeking answers to expenditure on his office and the financial dealings of a company owned by Batra with Hockey India.
