During that World Cup game in 2007, Sri Lanka scored a below-par score of 208 runs while batting first. Tillakaratne Dilshan was the lone warrior who scored 58 runs.
In reply, South Africa were cruising at one point of time with 206/5, then Malinga showed his magic by taking 4 wickets from 4 deliveries which helped Sri Lanka Clinch a victory from the jaws of defeat.

In T20 Internationals, Malinga has been a dominant force. He holds the record for the most wickets in T20Is for Sri Lanka which is a testament to his consistency and effectiveness in the shortest format of the game. His ability to bowl yorkers at will, especially in the death overs, made him a key player for Sri Lanka and a sought-after asset in T20 leagues globally.
He has also left his presence in the Indian Premier League playing for the popular franchise Mumbai Indians. He has taken 170 wickets and also is the current bowling coach of 5-time IPL champions.
