Happy Birthday Rinku Singh: From being a sweeper to best finisher in T20 Cricket

Careers are not built without struggle. It requires determination, discipline and the passion to walk that extra mile to reach success. It teaches you many things in life, from living without food to make ends meet to having that desire to do anything that comes to your way. The story of India’s young talented cricketer Rinku Singh is no less than that. Born in a middle-class family in Aligarh, Rinku’s father used to deliver LPG cylinders for a living. 

Their family was under so much debt that Rinku had to take up a job as a sweeper to support his family during that turbulent phase in his life. But, his passion for cricket never died. He would still use to practice for around 14 hours with hopes of achieving something big in cricket.

After a long wait, Rinku finally tasted success after getting an IPL contract with Kolkata Knight Riders who believed in his talent and the whole of India saw the first glimpse of Rinku Singh after he hit 5 sixes in a row to win a match for KKR from the jaws of defeat against Gujarat Titans in 2023. 

After showcasing his talent in IPL, Rinku got selected for the Indian team and impressed everyone with his calm demeanour and consistency with the bat. Now he is called the new finisher of India's batting unit. As Rinku turns 27, cricket fans on social media wish him on his special day.

In his short T20 International career for India, the left-hander has scored 471 runs at an average of 58 with an impressive strike rate of 175.
