Ace Odisha para-shuttlers Pramod Bhagat and Sukant Kadam secured bronze medal at the men’s doubles SL3-SL4 category at the ongoing Para Asian Games in China. 

In the men’s doubles SL3-SL4 category, World No.1 Pramod and his partner Sukant went down fighting to the Indonesian pair of Setiawan Fredy and Dwiyoko in a tight three set encounter. 

Pramod and his partner won the first set 22-20. The second set was also close with the Indonesian pair claiming it with a scoreline of 21-23. In the third and final set, Pramod and Sukant couldn’t make a comeback and lost with a scoreline of 12-21. The final score read 22-20, 21-23 and 12-21.

The day kicked off with Pramod defeating Thailand’s Bunsun Mongkhon in the semifinals to secure a place in the singles final. The ace shuttler looked in top form as he defeated his counterpart in straight sets. The final scoreline read 21-13 and 21-12. Pramod will not face India’s Nitesh Kumar in the finals of the SL3 singles category.

Earlier on Wednesday, Pramod and his partner Manisha Ramdass had secured bronze medal in the para-badminton mixed doubles event.

The Indian pair bowed out in the semi-finals of the mixed doubles SL3-SU5 event to be satisfied with the bronze medal. Indonesia’s Leani Ratri and Hikmat Ramdani sealed their place in the final with a 2-0 victory over the Indian duo.
