Who can forget MS Dhoni’s winning six to lead India to glory in the 2011 ODI Men’s World Cup. It’s been more than 12 years to the iconic moment when India ended a 28-year-long wait for a World Cup triumph.

On April 2, 2011, Dhoni became the only 2nd India captain to lift the World Cup after the veteran Kapil Dev. With his captaincy, Dhoni made sure India clinched the glory at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Not to forget, Gautam Gambhir played a crucial part and hit a magical 97 while pace bowler Zaheer Khan bowled a spectacular opening spell. Similarly, Yuvraj Singh, who was battling cancer, also made a tremendous contribution to the team.

Even as MS Dhoni truly deserves all the appreciation for the historic win, cricketer Gautam Gambhir has often expressed his views of being sidelined and not given enough credit. Time and again, he has opened up and said that it was the whole team which contributed to the win and not MS Dhoni alone.

While MS Dhoni’s winning 6 will always be remembered, Gambhir feels his crucial 97 run, Zaheer Khan’s tremendous bowling and Yuvraj’s terrific performance have been sidelined. The former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain has once again sparked debate with his comment.

In his commentary during the India vs England match, Gambhir said, “I have a question to everyone watching today’s match. If a Captain can alone win you the trophy, why can’t Jos Butler win today’s match. He is not able to win the match because England's batters and bowlers did not perform well. So, never gave the entire credit of winning to one single person. All the remaining 14 players should also be given the well-deserved credit.”

Meanwhile, fans were quick to link his comment with MS Dhoni. “So, Gambhir is once again taking a dig at Captain cool. Not fair,” wrote a user. Some users also lashed out at the former Indian opener and advised him to ‘move on’.
