Veteran cricketer and former KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir, who has been appointed head coach of Team India, is allegedly at loggerheads with BCCI even before his debut series. The former player, who replaced Rahul Dravid as the head coach of Team India, is rumored to be encountering significant resistance from BCCI.

Gambhir vs BCCI: As per reports, the former champion player wanted SA’s Morne Morkel as Team India’s bowling coach. However, if reports are to be believed, the BCCI has reportedly turned down his proposal of Morkel who has served as Pakistan’s bowling coach and is currently associated with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Earlier, he had picked former fast bowlers R Vinay Kumar and Laxmipathy Balaji who were also not approved.

Recommendation for fielding coach: Like the bowling coach, Gambhir had suggested veteran Jonty Rhodes as the fielding coach for Team India. However, the BCCI rejected his proposal and chose to go in a different direction.

Pandya vs Suryakumar: After the retirement of Rohit Sharma from T20Is, it was MI skipper Hardik Pandya who was supposedly to take over. However, after Gautam Gambhir taking over as the head coach, it is Suryakumar Yadav who is being considered for the captaincy for the Sri Lanka series.

Gambhir vs Virat Kohli: It is not hidden to all as to how Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir clashed with each other during the 2024 IPL match between RCB and LSG. However, they were later seen hugging each other and burying the past hatchet. Hopefully, Gambhir who is known for being aggressive, continues a cordial relation with Virat.

Obscene Gesture: Who can forget Gautam Gambhir showing middle finger to the crowd for chanting Virat Kohli’s name. Known for his aggressive nature, Gambhir now being the head coach, should keep his calm like Rahul Dravid.
